HalalChain launches in Dubai to identify Halal products

HalalChain recently demonstrated the potential of its blockchain to identify and record halal food transactions across the value chain in Dubai, according to a press release. The term halal refers to what is permissible or lawful in traditional Islamic law.

Using blockchain technology, HalalChain tracks and verifies halal food, medicines and cosmetics through production, processing and distribution. This helps to ensure the integrity of halal products, according to the release. HalalChain also offers e-payment, e-commerce and other apps for purchasing halal products.

"HalalChain is a comprehensive ecosystem where the Islamic economy and the digital economy complement each other," Abdullah Han, co-founder and managing director of HLC, said in the release. "However, the use of HalalChain is not only limited to the halal industry, it can be used to bring transparency to food label claims such as organic, non-GMO, and gluten-free."
