BitMEX breaks records with more than 1M bitcoins traded in 24 hours

BitMEX, a virtual currency trading platform, facilitated the trade of more than 1 million bitcoins within 24 hours on July 24. This surge came following the news of bitcoin's price soaring to more than $8,000, according to a press release.

"The astronomical surge in trading volume, coupled with the steadily rising price of bitcoin, is reflective of the market's increasingly sophisticated understanding of the potential of bitcoin to redefine global markets," BitMEX CEO and co-founder Arthur Hayes said in the release. "The achievement was also largely thanks to ongoing capacity increases accomplished by scaling our engine architecture."
