Madrid-based 2gether has officially launched its prepaid Visa cryptocurrency cards in Europe. The cards automatically convert cryptocurrency such as Ethereum, bitcoin and others directly into euros, according to a press release.
Users can load both any of seven supported cryptocurrencies on their card, as well as euros managed by Pecunia Cards E.D.E., or Pecunpay, a regulated Electronic Money Institution. Pecunpay authorizes transactions and automatically converts crypto payments to euros.
“It's an exciting time in the global payments industry as innovators inject new ideas and technologies to enable seamless commerce for everyone, everywhere," Carmen Alonso, Visa general manager for Spain, said in the release. "We value the opportunity to collaborate with fintech partners like 2gether to develop cutting-edge payments solutions for businesses and consumers."
In the future, 2gether plans to aggregate accounts from other banks and set up a contextual marketplace where users who pass the KYC process can purchase financial products and services through the 2gether app, which is available from Google Play and the App Store.
