The Good Citizen Network using blockchain to ensure honest donations
The Good Citizen Network has launched its blockchain platform, which helps ensure honest donations. Donors can use the platform to see where their donations go, ensuring that no one is just taking the money for their own gain, according to a press release.
"As much as 90 percent of donations online today are not diverted to their original intent," Katherine Chen, founder of the GCN, said in the release. "Due to this untrustworthiness, more and more people are shying away from volunteering and donating. With blockchain technology, a public ledger system makes everything open and accessible, using distributed ledger technology that is immutable. People can finally trust their donations again."
The company is aiming at boosting accountability in charitable giving. It is currently accepting all nonprofits, charitable organizations and individuals on its platform, according to the release.
